On Thursday 25th January, the annual Harrow Holocaust Memorial Day, organised by Harrow Council and Harrow Interfaith, took place at the Harrow Arts Centre. Zak attended a very powerful and moving occassion.
The ceremony comprised music from local groups such as More Than a Choir and the Norbury Primary School Choir as well as a number of speeches. The highlight of the evening was hearing from Joan Salter MBE, who survived the Holocaust as a child and recounted her horrific experiences. It was an important reminder to everybody present of the 'fragility of freedom' - the theme of this year's Holocaust Memorial Day.
